Whanganui chosen for Census test

Whanganui has been selected as the only district in New Zealand to participate in a Census test this year, ahead of the official Census which will be held nation-wide in March 2018.

We’ve been chosen by Statistics New Zealand because we are a big enough place to be representative of New Zealand as a whole and have a mix of people and dwellings that will help test systems and processes for the next Census in March 2018.

The more people who complete the Census test, the better Statistics New Zealand can make the experience next year when they run the 2018 Census.

Letters with information about how to participate in the test will arrive at your place from March 24. The census test day is Tuesday, April 4.

Statistics New Zealand is hoping 70 per cent of New Zealanders will complete their Census online in March 2018, so let’s see if we can beat that locally in the test by jumping online when your letter and online code arrives.
