Whanganui District Council is pleased to be one of six local government partners selected to be part of a Welcoming Communities New Zealand Pilot Programme (Welcoming Communities) led by Immigration New Zealand and the Office of Ethnic Communities.
Whanganui’s Leading Edge Strategy includes welcoming new people to our district. Communities are healthier, happier and more productive when newcomers are welcomed and can participate fully in society and in the local economy – whether they are migrants, refugees, international students, or even New Zealanders coming from elsewhere.
As part of the programme, a Welcoming Communities Standard for New Zealand is being developed. We invite you to take part in this survey about welcoming communities and the draft Standard.
Your views will be used to provide feedback on the Standard ahead of a national consultation process during August and September 2017.
Have a read through the Standard below and complete the survey (right-click and open in a new tab) which should take no more than 10-15minutes.
Alternatively you can send your feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org
Please note that due to the short timeframes from Immigration New Zealand, please provide your feedback by Monday 26 June 2017.
